چکیده
An analysis of the academic hiring networks in geoscience reveals a severe imbalance that favors graduates from small handful institutions. In this study, social network was conducted on database consisting every individual with Ph.D. working degree-granting pro- gram United States (n = 6694) between 2015 and 2021. Individuals were mapped institution where they earned their to currently work. Of 895 institutions included database, 10 alone produced nearly quarter (24.6%) entire workforce. Network also identified small, closed five top-10 institutions, which suggests these hire more frequently one another than other network. When rank used analyze for change over time, no significant shift patterns found. These imbalances faculty production disadvantage scientists who are educated at programs top-placing ultimately reinforces longstanding inequities field, such as underrepresentation people Black, Indigenous, People Color (BIPOC), first-generation college students faculty. inequity have been shown limit spread new scientific ideas throughout research communities.

متن کاملHistoric Queries in Geosensor Networks
This paper addresses—to our knowledge, for the first time—the problem of querying a geosensor network—a sensor network of mobile, locationaware nodes—for historical data. It compares different network architectures and querying strategies with respect to their performance in reconstructing events or processes that happened in the past, trying to support the hypothesis that reconstruction is pos...

Queries for historic events in geosensor networks
Mining for historic data is relevant to study the behavior of complex systems. This paper addresses the problem of querying a geosensor network for historical data. Geosensor networks—sensor networks of mobile, location-aware nodes—are typically deployed for real-time observations and local analysis. This paper’s interest is in reconstructing historic states or events. The problem is relevant i...
